Early Life and Influences

Born on January 16, 1973, Dan Hurley is an American college basketball coach who is the head coach of the UConn Huskies men's basketball team at the University of Connecticut (UConn).

Hurley's passion for basketball runs deep in his family. His father, Bob Hurley Sr., is a Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame coach known for his success at St. Anthony High School in Jersey City, New Jersey. Dan Hurley and his siblings grew up idolizing basketball stars like David Rivers, Charles Smith, and Felix Rivera.

Coaching Career

Hurley began his coaching career as an assistant at Rutgers University under his father from 1995 to 1997. He then served as an assistant at Seton Hall University for four seasons.

In 2010, Hurley was named the head coach at Wagner College. He led the Seahawks to two Northeast Conference (NEC) regular season championships and one NEC Tournament championship in his five seasons there.

In 2018, Hurley was hired as the head coach at UConn. In six seasons at UConn, Hurley has compiled a record of 141-58 with a winning percentage of 70.9%. He has led the Huskies to three NCAA Tournament appearances and one American Athletic Conference (AAC) regular season championship.
